Basically is the knack install from the disc the same exact thing on your ps4 as a knack digital download.

Given that knack for example has a digital copy available i know that it is possible for the game to run without a disc. I m not sure why sony made it this way but you have to delete the disc version and download the digital version. Ps4 may use bluray disc and bluray drive which is much faster compared to cd and dvd but it still can t match hdd usually sata3 tra.
